Information on Heartland Park Topeka Road Course

Type of race track: 2.5 mile, four configuration road course on 750 plus acres of land

Location: Located SW side of Topeka Kansas on Topeka Blvd

History: Construction on Heartland Park Topeka took more than a year and on August 11, 1989, four years after a motorsports facility was proposed in Topeka, the track hosted its first race, the IMSA Camel Grand Prix. Built at a cost of nearly $22 million, Heartland Park Topeka has been hosting record setting performances since the doors first opened over 25 years ago. The entire road course and pit road were completely repaved in late 2016 with site-specific, high-tech, polymer-enhanced asphalt racing surface.

Heartland Park Topeka Announces Road Course Repaving Contractor

Topeka, KS (October 11, 2016) – Officials with the New Heartland Park Topeka announce the selection of Sunflower Paving, Inc. of Lawrence, KS as the firm contracted to handle a complete repaving of the facility’s 2.5-mile, 14-turn championship-caliber road course. This extensive project is already underway and is expected to be completed before the end of October.

“The road course surface had numerous issues that prevented us from opening the track in 2016,” explains Jeff Lacina, Director of Road Course Operations for the New Heartland Park Topeka. “Over the course of the summer, we explored numerous repair options and techniques, consulted with a number of resources, but in the end, the ownership group felt the best long-term solution is to completely repave all four of the road course configurations, including the pit road entrance and exit. The team at Sunflower Paving has been very helpful throughout the planning process and we are confident in their ability to put down a surface that local, regional and national racers will really enjoy racing on.”  VIEW/READ MORE
