FANFEST ANNOUNCED FOR 29TH ANNUAL MENARDS NHRA HEARTLAND NATIONALS PRESENTED BY MINTIES

Topeka, KS – The popular FanFest gathering and press conference for the 29th Annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties will be Thursday, May 18 in recently revitalized downtown Topeka on 8th Street between Kansas Avenue and Quincy Street.

FanFest 2017 is to celebrate drag racing in Topeka and to welcome racers and fans to our great city in celebration of the Menards NHRA Nationals that will be held at Heartland Park Topeka, May 19-21. FanFest 2017 will begin with a press conference at 2:00pm. Following the press conference fans will have an opportunity to meet and greet drivers of the NHRA Mello-Yellow Drag Racing Series, play games, see displays and race cars and visit food vendors. A special evening autograph session will be held at 5 PM with all activities concluding at 7 PM.

Making a special appearance will be Elaine Larsen displaying her popular 280 mph jet propelled dragster along with the “Jet Technology Center” an interactive display.

Record-breaking performances have become the norm for the stars in the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series when they visit Heartland Park Topeka, and that trend will look to continue in 2017 when the 10,000-horsepower, 300-mph nitro-burning machines are unleashed at the 29th annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties, May 19-21.

MENARDS NAMED TITLE RIGHTS SPONSOR OF NHRA MELLO YELLO DRAG RACING SERIES RACE

GLENDORA, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2016) – Menards, a leading chain of home improvement centers, has signed an agreement to become the title rights sponsor of the NHRA Mello Yell
o Drag Racing Series event at Heartland Park Topeka.

The 29th annual Menards NHRA Heartland Nationals presented by Minties will be held May 19-21, 2017. Heartland Park Topeka is the fastest track in the country and during the 2016 event Matt Hagan set the national speed record with a blistering pass of 335.57 mph.

The popular mid-west retailer has expanded its presence in the geographic area surrounding Heartland Park Topeka by recently opening four new stores in the Kansas City market. More than 30 Menards stores are located within easy driving distance to the track from Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa. Many of the stores in those states will be selling discount event tickets in advance of the May event. Menards will also be offering promotional pricing on Minties Pet Treats leading up to the race.
