Type of race track: 3/8 mile clay oval.

Location: Located SW side of Topeka Kansas on Topeka Blvd

History: Construction on Heartland Motorsports Park took more than a year and on August 11, 1989, four years after a motorsports facility was proposed in Topeka, the track hosted its first race, the IMSA Camel Grand Prix. Built at a cost of nearly $22 million, HMS has been hosting record setting performances since the doors first opened over 25 years ago. In 1999 HMS constructed a temporary dirt track on top of the drag strip and it was so successful that a permanent clay/dirt track was built and opened on April 21, 2001.
